Experiences shape our lives.

As do influential people we meet along the way.

Graduates say there is no experience quite like the LEADERship Program.  Something happens inside. And something powerful happens outside, through new connections you likely never thought possible.

Those who open themselves up to new challenges - mental, emotional, physical - are prepared to confront opportunity in a whole new way.  When we expose ourselves, our vulnerabilities, our assumptions, and sometimes even our fears, we allow ourselves to grow.  And when we are guided through a remarkable varied set of activities and conversations, the opportunity for a personal, year-long, transformative experience exponentially increases.

Created in 1984 by the Greater Baltimore Committee, The LEADERship is an independent not-for-profit (501c3) social enterprise that develops, engages, and connects Baltimore’s most talented individuals to realize their greatest potential as leaders within the community, within their organizations and within themselves to create a thriving, vibrant and just metropolitan region.

We strive to achieve that goal through our signature 10-month leadership development program and through a variety of activities engaging our 1,500 program graduates.

Our program annually convenes 55+ diverse individuals in executive positions from organizations in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors for an intense 10-month learning experience focused on three elements:

     1. Exploring Baltimore’s history, challenges, assets, and people

     2. Developing civic leadership capabilities

     3. Forging strong, substantive relationships between participants

Each LEADERship year is filled with experiential learning, from policy debates and leadership exercises, to tours of economic assets and innovative social enterprises.  We engage important civic issues such as economic development, public education, social and economic disparities, public safety, and state and local government. Program participants come to know their community, themselves, and each other - in many ways understanding the city and region from a completely new perspective.

While graduates are personally enriched, their sponsoring organizations and the community at large benefit as well.  Leadership skills, knowledge of the community, personal contacts, and deep friendships pay dividends long after the formal program ends.

There is only one way to be a part of this.  Experience it yourself.

Baltimore needs brilliant leaders today more than ever.

If you are a leader who is ready to explore your capacity for extraordinary leadership at new levels, we want you to apply to The LEADERship Program today!
